Sometimes, going the natural way to treat a disease be it infections might just be the everlasting solution to that problem. Some plants known as food spices, may also have medicinal uses. Herbs are known to be very effective in treating infections, but it is pertinent to ascertain the underlying cause of the infection before commencing any form of treatment.
One of the food spices used in preparing different kind of dishes, and also, contains some healing powers is the cinnamon plant.
Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum. Cinnamon is used mainly as an aromatic condimentand flavoring additive in a wide variety of cuisines, sweet and savoury dishes, breakfast cereals, snackfoods, and traditional foods.
Usually, cinnamon comes in dried powdered form, mostly used for baking, as an extract and as an oil.
Cinnamon mixed with honey, can be very effective in treating bladder infections like the Urinary tract Infections (UTI)
Although, preventing a disease would be our major concern. Urinary tract infections are mostly treated with the use of antibiotics. Urinary tract infections can lead to serious kidney infections. If not well treated, the infection might resurface again, however, regular consumption of antibiotics is not recommended. Preventing urinary tract infections by taking cinnamon supplements could decrease pain and reduce antibiotic use.
Symptoms of Bladder infection:
A bladder infection may cause pelvic pain, increased urge to urinate, pain with urination, sense of incomplete bladder emptying, and blood in the urine.
How to prepare
- 1/2 tsp. Ceylon Cinnamon powder
- 1 cup boiling hot water
- Add the cinnamon stick or ground cinnamon to a teapot.
- Add the boiling water.
- Let the cinnamon tea steep for 8-10 minutes.
- Add your favorite tea.
- Let steep for 2-3 minutes.
- Strain the tea into your cup.
- Add any optional sweetener or milk.
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.
Pregnant women should not take cinnamon supplements. Skin exposure can cause burning or redness at the site. chronic use can also cause mouth inflammation.
